I thought that the Doctor Who Christmas episode, ‘The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe’, was rather good. I’m generally not very enthusiastic about the Christmas specials, they never seem to be quite as good as a regular episode. The main problem this one suffered from was the schmaltz, it was just too sentimental for my tastes. But at the same time that seems to be standard for a Christmas episode, so it is kind of forgiveable. At any rate, I like it a lot more than last year’s special. My main complaint: not enough Bill Bailey!
