The Doctor Who Christmas special was a little bit awesome and also a little bit disappointing too. I liked the idea of a time travel version of A Christmas Carol, and while it didn’t work out quite how I’d imagined, it was still nicely done. It was also a bit too sentimental for my tastes, though I suppose that could be excused in a Christmas special. Another minor complaint: not enough Amy and Rory. But there were a lot of nice touches and funny moments, and Michael Gambon was a good as you’d expect. Mainly though, I wasn’t blown away by it, and I was far more excited by the preview for the next series, which looks brilliant (a pot of coffee, twelve jammy dodgers and a fez, indeed). In the meantime I shall have to rewatch the last series, as I got the DVD boxset for Christmas.
