The Damned Busters by Matthew Hughes was a Christmas gift from my sister, and I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect from it. It a fantasy-comedy novel about a nerd called Chesney who accidentally summons a demon. He refuses to go down the usual sell your soul route, and as a result Hell goes on strike. A settlement with the Devil is reached, the result of which is that Chesney gets to live out his dream of becoming a superhero. The book was okay; the premise was good and it had some entertaining moments, but it also suffered a bit from some very thin characters. Overall, it wasn’t really my thing, but I enjoyed it enough for what it is.
